Saurabh Printers adds colours to books with brand new KOMORI

Greater Noida (Delhi-NCR)-based Saurabh Printers, a division of Saku Group, is a prominent printer and producer of books of different types as well as other associated products. The company’s production facility is integrated with a string of machines of diverse technologies, configurations, and formats. Installed new in the facility is a brand new KOMORI Lithrone G37, which eventually prints vibrant colours for book covers, jackets, and such pages. This highly-compact 37-inch sheet-fed offset press is the first machine from KOMORI India at Saurabh Printers.

Mr. Vinod Kumar Gulati, Managing Director, Saurabh Printers Private Limited, narrates, “Over the last three and a half decades of our presence in the printing and publishing market, we have been into book printing and production for publishers across the domestic as well as international markets.” From paperbacks to hardbound books, every single copy of book at Saurabh Printers is printed and produced under its roof in a complete way. A team of book printing and production experts running the cutting-edge machines and equipment is the vigour behind the company’s conquest in the publishing landscape.

Genesis of Saku Group is dated back to the year 1991. After that, in 1996, Saurabh Printers was launched as the group’s new vertical in the book publishing market. It’s named after Mr. Vinod’s son Mr. Saurabh Gulati who’s now active in business in the capacity of Director. As the journey continued, in 2005, Saurabh Printers became one of the few multinational companies in India to own the subsidiary Westman Printing in Sydney, Australia. “We are on a journey, not at a destination,” says Mr. Vinod, adding, “The year 2023 was when we first embraced the digital monochrome inkjet printing as well as colour digital production printing using an 8-colour Xerox machine for POD (print-on-demand) books.”

He further adds, “Last year marked a significant milestone for us as we transformed our monochrome book printing capabilities with the installation of JETSCI KnowzzleJet presses from Monotech Systems. Continuous investment in technology, capacity expansion, and innovation has always been a part of our growth strategy. We have also installed Monotech PixelGlow UV & foiling machine, which is significantly enhancing our value-added print capabilities by delivering premium UV coating and foiling effects for book covers, jackets, and other printed materials.”

Mr. Vinod continues, “This year, we have taken the another major step forward by enhancing our colour printing capabilities, particularly for book covers, jackets, and other high-quality colour applications, with the Lithrone G37. We selected this advanced KOMORI sheet-fed offset press for its superior technology, exceptional print quality, and unique capabilities that set it apart from other presses in its class.”

Designed to produce A1-size finished products with the maximum sheet size of 640x940mm, Lithrone G37 can accommodate up to 16-page A4-size impositions, comfortably handling papers of diverse thicknesses up to 0.8mm, which in turn makes it an ideal press for high-pagination book printing and others like commercial printing and packaging graphic prints. The press operates at the maximum speed of 15,000sph (sheets per hour), with an inline coater, seamlessly handling stocks ranging from 0.04mm up to 0.45mm.

According to Mr. Vinod, there’s another sheet-fed offset press in Saurabh Printers’ production facility with which they had been printing colour book covers and jackets. “Since the day the Lithrone G37 was commissioned and started running for printing colourful covers for books, we never looked back and now we look forward to adopting many such versatile and capable machines from KOMORI India. After all, we are extremely happy and satisfied with the machine as well as the post-sales service support that the team KOMORI India provides us now and then, anytime irrespective of time and circumstance,” he concludes.
